Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ShareHTML (the “Service”), operated by ShareHTML (“ShareHTML,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Please read them carefully. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

ShareHTML lets you upload, create, share, review, and comment on HTML and Markdown documents, including generating shareable links with configurable permissions and collecting inline feedback. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You access the Service by signing in with a supported identity provider (such as Google). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. Provide accurate information and keep it current, and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. Your content

You retain all ownership rights in the documents, comments, and other content you upload or create (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of Your Content.

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, display, and transmit Your Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service — including rendering your documents, generating preview and share links, and making content available to the people you share it with. This license exists only to run the Service for you and ends when you delete Your Content, subject to reasonable backup retention.

You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party or any law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to upload, host, share, or transmit content or code that:

• Is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or violates the rights or privacy of others;
• Contains malware, viruses, or scripts designed to harm, deceive, or gain unauthorized access to viewers’ devices or data (including phishing pages, drive-by downloads, or unauthorized cryptocurrency mining);
• Harasses, threatens, or exploits others, or contains content harmful to minors;
• Is spam, or is used for bulk unsolicited messaging or deceptive schemes.

You also agree not to:

• Probe, scan, or attempt to breach the security or integrity of the Service, or circumvent access or permission controls;
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure (including automated scraping or abuse);
• Reverse engineer or misuse any part of the Service except as permitted by law; or
• Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation.

Because documents can contain active HTML and JavaScript, you are solely responsible for the code you publish and for ensuring it is safe and lawful. We render content in a sandboxed frame but do not review or endorse user content.

5. Sharing and third-party access

You control how your documents are shared through the permission settings we provide. You are responsible for choosing appropriate settings and for anyone who gains access as a result. Content shared via a public link is accessible to anyone who has the link. Do not share confidential information more broadly than you intend.

6. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third-party services (such as Google sign-in and, optionally, GitHub). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. If you connect GitHub, you authorize us to access the repositories and files you select in order to import them.

7. Intellectual property

The Service itself — including its software, design, and the ShareHTML name and logo — is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. These Terms do not grant you any right to our branding.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that content will be preserved without loss. You use the Service at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShareHTML and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. To the extent any liability is not excludable, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ShareHTML and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of any third party.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your content at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
